Three labourers, one driver abducted

In separate incidents, three labourers working in installation of Jio mobile tower and a truck driver transporting cement along Imphal-Jiribam road have been abducted by unknown persons on Monday.
An intensive search operation has been launched by the police to trace and rescue the abducted labourers and driver.
According to police, unidentified people abducted three labourers working in installation of Jio 5G tower at Thangbuh village under New Keithelmanbi police station on February 3 around 3.30 pm.
The labourers have been identified as Mrinal Chetia, son of Dipak Chetia; Prakash Gogoi, son of Golap Gogoi; and Sanjiv Samach of Namrupia Gaon, all from Jorhat district in Assam.
On February 4, Sapphire Solution Private Limited reported to New Keithelmanbi police station regarding abduction of the three labourers.
Subsequently, the police station registered an FIR and a combined team of Bishnupur and Kangpokpi district police led by additional SP (ops) Abdul Kalam launched search operations in suspected areas from Sunday but the trio is yet to be found.
However, a Bolero pick-up truck (AS 01MC/4495) used in the abduction was found abandoned near Dolang Chiru village on Sunday around 3.30 pm.
In another incident, unidentified people abducted a truck driver identified as Laimayum Romeo, son of Angousana of Moirang Ngangkha Lawai Mayai Leikai along with the truck (MN01 8796) carrying cement along Imphal-Jiribam road in between Irang and Awangkhul area on February 4 .
In connection with the abduction, one Heinam Tomboy, son of late Biro Singh of Moirang filed a report to Noney police station on Sunday and acting on the report, Noney police searched for the missing driver and the truck.
During the search, the truck was found from near Taombam Railway construction site with some cement bags missing.
However, the driver has not been found till, the time of filing this report.
In connection with the incident, All Manipur Road and Transport Drivers & Motor Workers' Union on Monday submitted a memorandum to the CM, requesting for taking up necessary measures.
