KUM assembly resolves to protect state's integrity

Imphal, October 05 2024: Kom Union Manipur (KUM), the apex body of Kom community, convened its first annual assembly at KR Lane in Imphal East district on Saturday and resolved to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.

After the annual assembly, KUM president Serto Ahao Kom told media persons that Kom tribe is no longer associated with Komrem, which was formed with different tribes, and the decision to dissociate from Komrem was taken to protect the identity of Kom.

According to Serto Ahao Kom, the annual assembly discussed various issues and arrived at several decisions.

Among the decisions include approval of the KUM constitution, discussion on issues plaguing Manipur and protection of the unity and integrity of Manipur.

He also declared that Kom community will remain as neutral in the ongoing conflict.

He appealed to the CSOs and the government to work towards bringing back peace and normalcy in the state.
