Changes & development imminent in coming months: La Ganesan
Source: Chronicle News Service / DIPR

Imphal, June 29 2022: Governor of Manipur La Ganesan has assured the people that all round development will be seen in the coming months in the state.

He was speaking during an interaction session with MLAs, representatives of Urban Local Bodies & Panchayat, District Level Officers (DLOs), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and beneficiaries of 4 assembly segments of Wangoi Sub-Division (Wangoi, Mayang Imphal, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa and Langthabal ACs), held at the auditorium of Mayai Lambi College, Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai on Wednesday.

Governor Ganesan said that people have the right to express any issue or grievances before the authority whoever he or she may be and their issues should be addressed as soon as possible.

He continued that in most of the places he had visited, he heard complaints made by the people and most of the complaints are of poor connectivity, deplorable road condition, lack of basic amenities and poor healthcare facilities.

Admitting that most of the roads including in the hill areas are in need of proper maintenance, the Governor stated that almost all roads will be repaired and people will enjoy a safe passage in the coming months, possibly in the next 9 months.

He added that the development works which are being taken up in the state will take time to complete and all should cooperate with patience.

Ganesan further said that all should take care of their health as it is the only way to fight any disease.

He said: "With the support and co-operation of all stakeholders and people, we are able to fight the COVID-19 pandemic successfully and nowadays the rate of infection has decreased to a negligible rate".

He then appealed to people to be careful and maintain cleanliness and also to get vaccinated at least twice to fight the disease.

Reiterating the commitment of the Centre to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, the Governor asked the district administration to conduct door to door survey and identify TB patients so as to take up necessary steps.

Governor Ganesan also expressed confidence that such interaction programme or the Janata Darbar will definitely help in identifying issues and grievances faced by the people, and help authorities concerned to deal with the issues timely.

He further assured the people that he will ask the authorities concerned and if necessary, the Chief Minister, for taking steps in the interest of the people.

Speaking on the occasion, Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam informed that Wangoi Sub Division which is under Imphal West district is in a poor condition and as such, sought cooperation from all concerned in developing the Sub-Division.

Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro said that most roads in Mayai Lambi are decades old and narrow.

The centre has given approval for its expansion, he informed, while adding that the incumbent government would soon be able to provide good roads to the people.

Wangoi AC MLA Kh Loken urged the DLOs of the Sub-Division to try their level best for resolving grievances of the people, while suggesting holding a sit-down between government officials and local representatives at least once a month for development of the Sub-Division.

Prior to the session, the attending representatives of the CSOs submitted a memorandum and urged the Governor to look into the issues timely.

The session was also attended by secretary to Governor Bobby Waikhom, Imphal West Zilla Parishad adhyaksha RK Taruni, pradhans, councillors and CSOs, villagers and beneficiaries of various state and central sponsored schemes and students attended the programme.

Earlier, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West Th Kirankumar on his arrival at the venue.
