Workers' convention

Ahead of the 'workers' rally' to be organized on September 25 next in all parts of the country to press implementation of 10 different demands, a "workers' Convention" was held under the aegis of the Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur at Irabot Bhawan here today.
The event was attended by L Sotinkumar, Chairman of Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur; Kh Gyaneshwar of TDCC; K Manoranjan of UTDC; Salam Yaima, Vice President of AITUC; Sarat Salam of CITU and Yumnam Indrani, Secretary of Working Women's Forum as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Sotinkumar recalled that the National Convention for Workers held at New Delhi on August 6 unanimously resolved to take up various agitations to press implementation of 10 demands of the workers.
The National convention also resolved to organize workers' rallies in all State capitals of the country on September 25 as well as public rally in front of the Parliament and at all district head quarters, etc.
He went on to state that as in other parts of the country, the workers rally would also be taken out at Imphal on September 25 to press implementation of 10 demands which include fixing of the minimum salary of the workers at Rs 10,000; to provide Universal Social Security to all the workers; to provide pension to all workers; to properly implement Labour Law, etc.
Dr M Nara, Secretary, CPI, Manipur State Unit was also present during the workers' convention.
