NPP will never take the wrong path: Conrad
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, November 23 2021: National People's Party (NPP) national president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who arrived here on Monday and attended several election-relating events, addressed election meetings of several NPP candidates in the valley on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, a political convention of Khurai AC intending NPP candidate Laitonjam Jayananda, who is also the president of National People's Youth Front (NPYF), Manipur, was held at Ima Chingjroibi Shanglen, Khurai Konsam Leikai, along with a Ningol Chakkouba programme, which is being organised in a phase manner.

Meanwhile, NPP Singjamei Block and NPYF organised an interaction programme on "NPP as Saviour of North East" and a meeting of Singjamei AC intending NPP candidate Oinam Romen, at Singjamei Thongam Leikai.

Later, NPP Langthabal Block and NPYF jointly organised an election-related interaction programme for Langthabal AC intending NPP candidate Karam Nabakishore at Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai on Tuesday afternoon.

The various interaction programmes were attended Conrad K Sangma, Manipur deputy CM and NPP national vice president Y Joykumar, NPP Manipur president MLA N Kayisii, NPP Manipur working president and Keishamthong AC MLA Y Jayantakumar, NPP national general secretary (organisation) Thomas Sangma, Meghalaya William Nagar MLA Marcuise Marak, NPYF national president Ratika Yumnam and intending candidates of the respective constituencies.

Speaking at the political convention, Conrad K Sangma conveyed that he found a new article in some local dailies on Tuesday of youth workers of a certain party behaving like hoodlums.

It is unfortunate to see such behaviour in a small state like Manipur, he said, while contending that NPP will never guide its workers on the wrong path or encourages such acts.

"NPP condemns such aggressive behaviour and will never step into such low-level politics.

Political parties should respect one another and work towards bringing about peace and development.

This is the principle of NPP, a political party which was born in Manipur and gradually took roots in the northeast region.

From having 1-2 MLAs, the party now has MLAs in four states of the northeast, in addition to 2 MPs," he added.

The Meghalaya CM continued: "NPP has been voicing out the sentiments of the people of the northeast, compared to other political parties who have never raised the different issues plaguing the region.

However, NPP has been working hard, taking into account the unique identities, cultures and sentiments of the people in the region and as such, it is beingjncreasingly loved and supported by the people of northeast region.

The party has been doing politics for the benefit of the indigenous people of the region.

"NPP has also been focusing on the young people and thus, has launched various youth welfare programmes for the development of the region.

It is the party's aim to provide quality education to the youth, as indicated by NPP's symbol which is a book.

The party's manifesto comprises youth-related activities, protection and promotion of the cultural identity of the region, something which is included in NPP s constitution and not seen in constitutions of other political parties.

"NPP will emerge as the single largest party in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election and take the lead role in the formation of the next state government," Conrad contended.

In his address, Laitonjam Jayananda remarked that NPP is the only political party that thinks for the north-eastern region and the one capable of bringing peace in the state.

Condemning the assault meted out to NPP youth workers who were erecting flags to welcome Conrad K Sangma allegedly by Khurai AC MLA L Susindro and his security on Monday; Jayananda remarked that such unruly conduct from a representative, who is supposed to look at everyone equally and maintain peace, is unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Singjamei AC candidate Oinam Romen urged the people to vote for NPP to help him (Romen) in providing self-employment opportunities to the youth of Singjamei AC.

On the other hand, during his interaction programme, Langthabal NPP candidate Karam Nabakishore stressed the need for concerted efforts to help in development of Langthabal AC.

He then assured of prioritizing the education sector so as to bring changes and development of human resources in the constituency, in addition to improving the roads and transport conditions and as such, appealed to the people to extend their support to him in the election.
