Taking note of the KSO unit and Kotlenphai Village Authority's claim that some individuals suspected to be Meetei manhandled and attempted to abduct one Vahtinchan (18), daughter of Hemkhomang Haokip of H Kotlenphai village, while she was returning home from South East Manipur College (SEMCO), Komlathabi, after an examination on Wednesday around 11:40 am, United Committee, Pallel, clarified that the incident is not connected with Meeteis in the Pallel area.
Condemning such acts, the committee urged all concerned to refrain from engaging in similar incidents in the future.
They also called on state and central forces to strengthen security measures to prevent unwanted incidents.
Meanwhile, Arambai Tenggol Unit 40, in a separate statement, dismissed the accusations on Arambai Tenggol made by H Kotlenphai Village Authority.
The unit categorically denied any involvement in the incident, and described the allegations as baseless and malicious, while asserting that it would never engage in such "immoral and uncivilised acts" against students of any community.
The AT Unit 40 further urged the public to verify and confirm facts before levelling allegations, and warned that it would not tolerate false accusations in future.
Both groups appealed for restraint and responsibility in addressing such sensitive issues.
