Coffin rally demands justice for 10 killed by CRPF

A silent empty coffin rally was organised by the Joint Philanthropic Organisation (JPO) in Churachandpur town on Tuesday, demanding justice and extending solidarity to those killed by CRPF in Jiribam district on November 11 and also for Zosangkim, who was brutally killed in the same district.
The coffin rally was flagged off by Young Vaiphei Association (YVA) president H Sangpi from Lamka public ground at 11 am Tuesday and ended at the 'Wall of Remembrance' near Tuibong public ground.
As the 10 symbolic coffins were carried, mourners quietly moved alongside, holding banners and photos of the deceased.
Some of the banners read 'Justice for indigenous people', 'Separate administration, only solution', 'May it be the Vale of Death in the Mount of Life' .
Upon reaching the Wall of Remembrance, a memorandum addressed to Union home minister Amit Shah was submitted through Churachandpur DC Dharun Kumar.
Before the coffin rally, JPO secretary Lianzalal told media persons that they have requested the home ministry to put pressure on Silchar Medical College and police to provide post mortem reports facilitate honourable burials of the 10 slain village volunteers.
The funeral of 10 Kuki-Zo youths, who were killed in an alleged gunfight with CRPF, was kept on hold till their post-mortem reports were handed over to the families.
Accordingly, the bodies have been kept in the local hospital morgue for the time being after their arrival on Saturday.
