Shutdown call affects normal life

Imphal/Bishnupur, October 15 2024: The total shutdown called by different insurgent organisations in connection with observance of Black Day affected normal life on Tuesday.

Major markets in Imphal including Khwairamband, Paona and Thangal Kei thel wore deserted look as commercial establishments dow ned their shutters for the days.

Inter-district and inter-state passenger services also service during the shutdown hours, with only few private vehicles seen on the road.

While schools and colleges had cancelled classes owing to the shutdown call, banks too remained shut as security personnel maintained vigil at strategic locations to prevent any untoward incident.

Till the filing of this report there is no report of any shutdown related incident.

The shutdown also had severe impact to normal life in Bishnupur district with major commercial hubs such as Nambol, Oinam, Bishnupur, Ningthoukhong, Moirang and Kumbi markets halting business activities and passenger carriers ceasing service.
