Training programme empowers livestock farmers

In a bid to enhance agricultural practices and augment income opportunities for farmers, the joint director of District Veterinary Office in Thoubal/Kakching, under the auspices of National Livestock Mission (NLM), conducted a one-day training programme on 'Poultry Management, Scientific bearing of Pigs, and Livestock Insurance' at Langmeidong Dramatic Union Hall on Tuesday.
The training programme was attended by Waikhong ZP former member Ch Indrajit and joint director of District Veterinary Office Thoubal, Dr P Gojendro as chief guest and president respectively while Waikhong GP former pradhan W Brojen and Langmeidong GP former pradhan nominee Y Samojit were guests of honour.
Dr Gojendro, in his address, emphasised the government's commitment towards providing assistance and benefits through various schemes aimed at augmenting the income bf farmers.
He urged participants to leverage these schemes effectively, thereby contributing to fostering self-reliance in food production.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance and benefits of farmers' insurance schemes, assuring farmers of protection against potential losses arising from calamities or epidemics.
The training session featured resource persons sharing their expertise on diverse topics.
Retired poultry farming specialist Dr Kh Somendro, along with veterinary officers from District Veterinary Hospital Thoubal, Serou Veterinary Hospital, and Kakching Veterinary Hospital, Dr Diana Kshetrimayum, Dr Y Geeta, and Dr Sh Brojendro, respectively, enlightened participants on various aspects of livestock management.
With an active participation of 80 farmers, the training programme provided a platform for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement in livestock rearing practices.
Participants gained insights into modern techniques and best practices, empowering them to optimise productivity and ensure the well-being of their livestock.
