SFs continue search ops, recover weapons

Imphal, July 10 2024:
Security forces continued to conduct search operations and recovered several weapons including explosives on Wednesday.
According to a police report, a combined team of Kakching district ASP (LO), Sugnu SDPO, Kakching police commando, Wangoo police, 131 Battalion BSF and 37 Assam Rifles conducted search operation in Thamnapat Ching and Pangaltabi Chingkha areas under Wangoo police station from 5.30 am on Wednesday.
During the operation, the team recovered two 81 mm mortars, one HE 51 mm mortar, two 51 mm smoke shells (misfired), three 36 HE grenades without detonator, one Baofeng handset, two helmets, 4 BP vests, three camouflage pants, two camouflage shirts, one camouflage T-shirt, one smoke grenade and four rounds of PAG (pump action gun).
All of the recovered items have been handed over to Wangoo PS for further legal action.
Another team of Imphal West district police, CRPF and BSF carried out area domination patrolling and sensitisation operation in Phayeng Karang area from 7:15 am till 8.10 am Wednesday during which 54 houses were Searched and 97 people verified but no arrests or recovery of weapons made.
Meanwhile, a joint team of Churachandpur district police, 59 Sikh Regiment and D/167 BSF searched total of 40 houses and verified 90 people of Khousabung and L Phainom villages from 8am till 11.30am on Wednesday as a combined team of 22 AR, 94 CRPF and Kangpokpi district police conducted search operation using metal detectors and sniffer dog at L Khangnom village under Saparmeina police station from 7.30 am on Tuesday.
During the operation, the team recovered one 9mm CMG with magazine, two single bore barrel guns, one each hand grenade, stun grenade, smoke grenade and .303 rifle magazine, 17 rounds of 9mm calibre, nine 7.62mm blank rounds and four single bore cartridges, all of which have been handed over to Saparmeina PS for relevant measures.
