Senapati epicentre of peace
Source: Chronicle News Service

Senapati, August 09 2021: Chief minister N Biren Singh has described Senapati as the epicentre of peace and drew the attention of all to move forward towards development.

The chief minister was speaking at the inauguration of a PSA (Oxygen) Plant at Senapati District Hospital which has been set up with funding under 15th FC grant.

An epicentre of strike once has now turned into an epicentre of peace, the chief minister said referring to Senapati district.

Biren stated that the visit to three places of hill districts was made to redress oxygen shortage during this pandemic.

There were so many instances of shifting sick people from Senapati to Imphal in the past because of lack of trauma centre, blood bank, operation theatre, etc.

In the past four and half years, the government did its best to improve the infrastructure especially in health sector.

Earlier, the state had only 25 D-type cylinders but now has around 5000 cylinders.

The newly inaugurated PSA plant could produce 200 oxygen cylinders per day.

Another scheme under PM Care fund for 100 cylinders production capacity is in the process to meet any urgency in the district although a patient may not need to shift to Imphal, Biren said.

He maintained that the state government has taken up major water supply projects in Tamenglong district which would ensure supply of drinking water to the people for up to 40-50 years.

The government is also undertaking major water supply project in Senapati district to provide sufficient drinking water to the people.

The CM acknowledged the tireless efforts of the medical staff, and pointed out that the state cabinet had recently regularised the service of NHM staff and assured that they would get all other allowances in future.

CM Biren expressed remorse that many people of the district were reluctant to get vaccinated while pointing out that 97 per cent of people infected in the second wave are unvaccinated.

In order to save from the worldly disease, the spirit of the Lord came to scientists to produce/invent vaccines which are the only preventive measure to overcome the dreaded virus, Biren added.

The CM suggested to the religious leaders and the CSOs to pass on the awareness among the people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.Of the total target of vaccinating around 19 lakh people, some 12 lakh people have been vaccinated and the remaining 7 lakh are mostly from hill districts, he said.

The CM also said that the government plans to organise the State Level Barak Festival after the completion of the Indoor Stadium which is under construction at Senapati ground.

Many developmental projects including water supply, Sapna Mandav, etc, are in the list for inauguration in the district.

With peace prevailing in the state, the CM said, he is hopeful of bringing development in different spheres in future.

PHE minister Losii Dikho said that Senapati district deserves better medical infrastructure with lots of medical needs arising in the district.

The minister said that the pandemic is a blessing in disguise for Senapati district as lots of medical infrastructure were added which otherwise might take 10 years to reach that level.

Dikho informed that the chief minister was overjoyed when requested to install oxygen plant in the district and that was fulfilled finally on Monday.

He further said the government is doing its best to improve medical facilities in the district and claimed the government never neglects the district in spite of limitation and shortage.

The minister while lauding and acknowledging the dedication and commitment of the medical fraternity urged them to walk the extra mile in the service of the people during the pandemic.

He informed that the chief minister, who also holds the health portfolio, has strong commitment to improve medical facilities and manpower in the district hospital, which is the need of the hour.

Losii Dikho emphasised the importance of Covid-19 vaccination and stated that it is the only solution for putting an end the pandemic.

He appealed to the medical fraternity, CSO and district administration to continue their dedication to the district health care.

The minister also expressed his happiness on seeing many dedicated people along with the medical fraternity who are working for ensuring health care in the district in these challenging times.

TA & Hills minister Vunzagin Valte, education minister S Rajen, ADC Senapati caretaker chairman A Kapani and DLOs were also present during the event.
