Covid claims two more, infects 167

Imphal, October 03 2021: Even after six months of the second wave of Covid-19, the state is seeing no relief from the contagious viral infection as Sunday reported two more death cases along with 167 new positive cases out of 2249 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.4 per cent against Monday's 5.39 percent.

Though the positivity rate is below 8 per cent, Kamjong (33.3 per cent), Ukhrul (14 per cent) and Imphal West (12.9 per cent) districts recorded double digit positivity rate while Bishnupur (9.8 per cent) and Kangpokpi (8.3 per cent) recorded single digit yet high positivity rate.

The active caseload rose to 2262 out of which 394 (17.42 per cent) are in home isolation, 897 (39.66 per cent) in CHlCs, 612 (27.06 per cent) in CCCs and 359 (15.87 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 68 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 81 are on oxygen support and 24 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support at JNIMS even though it has 171 patients.

On the other hand, there are six patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Sunday evening, 569 beds including 114 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information oin bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Saturday evening 2860 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 394 beds (29 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 91,646 positive eases and 1488 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 1162 new cases and 16 fatalities were added in the last seven davs alone.

According to-official reports, all the 167 new positive cases (83 male & 84 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (7), JNIMS (10) and other testing centres (150) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (27), Imphal West (98), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (13), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (2), Senapati (2), Kamjong (2) and Kangpokpi (2) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The two fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal East district and both were unvaccinated with co-morbid conditions.

With the two deaths, the cumulative number of deaths has reached 1862 .

In the last 24 hours, 119 patients were discharged from home isolation (48), RIMS (2), JNIMS (11), CCCs (54) and CHICs (4).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,21,046 (general population - 1,16,756 and CAPF personnel - 4,290) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,16,922 (general population - 1,12,661 and CAPF personnel - 4,261) and number of active cases is 2,262 (general population - 2,238 and CAPF personnel -24) .

The recovery rate is 96.59 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 858 D-type and 271 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 4720 doses of Covid vaccine were administered in the state on Saturday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 12,25,774 including 4,93,056 fully vaccinated individuals.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (41,793), Imphal East (26,762), Thoubal (9343), Churachandpur (10,054), Kangpokpi (2758), Tamenglong (3267), Bishnupur (9029), Senapati (2205), Ukhrul (2766), Kakching (6353), Chandel (2286), Noney (1060), Tengnoupal (1044), Jiribam (1017), Kamjong (867) and Pherzawl (442).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (618), Imphal East (441), Thoubal (169), Churachandpur (159), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (187), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (33), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,009 conhrmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,207 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,21,694 tests per million population against the national average of 4,10,358 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2249 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 7.43 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.25 per cent.
