Imphal, May 25 2018:
As a part of the indefinite cease work strike launched by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) demanding 7th Pay in the State, employees of the Imphal West DC staged a sit in protest at the office complex today.
The protest was staged by the employees of 14 Department section of DC Imphal West.
K Tikendra Singh, Labour Inspector of Labour department, stated that so far there has been no positive response from the State Government regarding the implementation of 7th Pay in the State.
Condemning the failure of the Government, he said that the Government employees desire the 7th Pay recommendation to be implemented at the earliest from the Government side as most of the States in India, including neighbouring North-East States, have already started enjoying the 7th Pay except for Manipur which is a big discouragement to the State employees.
Tikendra further said that the demand for implementation of 7th Pay is legitimate and hoped that it will be implemented at the earliest as the Central Government arid State Government are both ruled by the BJP and 7th Pay is already implemented in most of the States ruled by BJP.
The employees appealed to the State Government to bring a positive solution regarding the issue and warned that if the authority concerned fails to do so, the employees will suppoft any steps taken up by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
The employees also appealed the authority concerned to revoke the warrant issued against the core committee members of the JAC at the earliest.
