Prithviraj urges for starting Imphal-Bangkok flight service

Mairembam Prithviraj, Parliamentary Secretary (Tourism and Sports), Manipur has drew the attention of Union Minister of Tourism Sripad Yesso Naik for putting pressure on the Union Civil Aviation Minister for allowing flight service from Imphal to Bangkok via Mandalay and Kunming.
He informed that the Imphal airport had already been converted into international airport.
He was speaking at the National Conference of Tourism Ministers held at ITC Maurya, Diplomatic Enclave here on Thursday.
Union Minister for Tourism Shripad Yesso Naik chaired the National Conference of Tourism Ministers which was inaugurated by Union Minister for Finance and Defence Arun Jaitley as Chief Guest.
Organized as part of the 100 days action plan of the Government, the objective of the conference was to initiate high-level discussions on important issues faced by India's Tourism Industry.
.MPrithviraj also urged the Union Minister of Tourism for starting the proposed Imphal- Mandalay bus service soon.
He proposed the Ministry to organize the International Travel and tourism mart in Imphal in October 2015.He invited the union Minister of Tourism to grace the forthcoming Manipur Sangai Festival as Chief Guest.
He informed the conference that the Tourism Department, Manipur had been organizing the Manipur Sangai Festival as an annual event since 2010 .
He said, "The festival has become increasingly popular with each passing year.
In the last edition of the Manipur Sangai Festival, there were a large number of contingents from Myanmar including two Chief Ministers of Sagaing and Mandalay region of Myanmar.
Polo teams from United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Thailand participated at the seventh Manipur International Polo Tournament held at Imphal Pologround as a part of the Sangai Festival.
We are planning to make the eight edition of the Polo tournament more eventful by inviting more participants" .
Prithviraj stated that State Government initiated process for upgrading Hotel Imphal into a Five- star Hotel.
Circuits were being developed touching all important tourist destinations from Imphal to Jessami, Imphal to Mao, Imphal to Moreh amd Imphal to Churachandpur.
Infrastructure development of Adventure Tourism Complex had been taken up by the Manipur Tourism.
He also stated that the Manipur tourism Policy, 2014 has been formulated with a view to propel the tourism industry break fresh grounds.
He also mentioned that Union Tourism Ministry had already sanctioned the projects- Integrated Mega Tourist Circuit at Khongjom, Kaina and Khebaching and Development of Tourist Resorts at Sendra Hillocks, Water Sports Complex at Takmu, which would go a long way in creating resources and providing revenue in the state.
The project- Development of Integrated Cable Car and Ropeway at loktak Lake for providing ropeway from Sendra Hillock to Chaoba had been sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism under the Large Revenue Generating Scheme.
The Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism drew the attention of the Ministry to release the second installments of fund for the projects sanctioned during 2012-13 and 2013-14, for which the utilization Certificates had already summited to the Ministry.
He stated that the amount of Rs 10 Crore earmarked for the tourism projects in Manipur for 2014-15 was not sufficient and demanded the Ministry to sanction the actual requirement of funs at the tune of Rs 175 crore, which had already submitted to the Ministry.
