SIMS Lite to reduce school administration workload

IN A first of its kind in Manipur and perhaps in whole Northeast, a new software that promises to reduce the workload of school administration has been officially launched during a function at Classic Hotel here today.

Ltd, an Imphal-based software developer firm, has developed the new software called School Information Management System Lite or SIMS Lite in short.
Speaking at the launching function, Founder and Managing Director of KOK SAM LAI Pvt Ltd Harjeet Sinam said that the technology of SIM Lite has been specially designed to simplify school management and administration and it would facilitate the growing needs of the entire stakeholders namely students, teachers, administrators and principals in any school or educational institutions.
He explained that SIMS Lite manages the attendance, the academic assessment and the co-curricular activities of the students.

More importantly, student's report generation through this technology is in compliance to the CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation) system due to be introduced in all CBSE affiliated schools from the next academic session.
Apart from its mechanism to enhance parent-teacher interaction, SIMS Lite would also reduce the workload of school administration as all the information/database would be available at fingertips.
Harjeet informed that for the first phase, the technology of SIM Lite has been mainly designed keeping in mind the needs of primary and lower primary schools.
Based on the requirement of the school, the technology could be used in two ways, either online (through the cloud server of SIM Lite) or offline.
Depending upon the nature of the school, the company charges Rs.50-100 per students in a year, he added.
On other future projects, Harjeet disclosed that KOK SAM LAI Pvt.
Ltd is also planning to conduct SIMS Lite certification training programme for teachers.
For this, the company has tied up with a Bangalore based company called Zoole Com IT for the distribution of the product in south Indian markets.
Yumnam Rupachandra, Chief Editor of local cable network, ISTV; RK Xavier Singh, Director of Marketing, KOK SAM LAI; Laishangthem Surjeet, President of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association attended the function as presidium members.
According to a statement issued by the company, the newly launched software can not only manage the attendance, the academic assessment, and the curricular activities of the students but also to assist the teachers and the management in various disciplines of the school and through it, principals, teachers and even the parents can view the progress of the students and retrieve any data of the students within the school in a click of a button.
Along with the launching of the software, the firm also announces the deployment of SIMS-lite application in the cloud server.

It further stated that the software will not only revolutionize the school management system but also initiate a contribution to the economic boost that the state requires through export and sale of the application to other parts of the country.
