The proposed 24 hours bandh called by the Kangpokpi Block Chiefs' Association (KBCA) from 6 pm of January 28 till 6 pm of January 29 over MGNREGA issue within Kangpokpi, Champhai and Tujang Vaichong Block has been called off after assurance from the authority concerned today.
The proposed bandh was called off after an agreement was reached between the agitating chiefs and the authority concerned today at DC Office Kangpokpi after a lengthy discussion.
The meeting was held at the invitation of DC Kangpokpi this noon.
The agreement between the chiefs and the authority was made possible after written assurance from DC/DPC (DRDA) Senapati that 6 days MGNREGA wages would be released before February 5 and thereafter subsequent 6 days wages would be released subject to completion of previous works.
It was also agreed in written that DC/DPC(DRDA) Senapati would assign a separate DRDA staff to be stationed at DC Office Kangpokpi for minimum 3 days a week to hasten all DRDA Projects, Thangminlen Kipgen, secretary, KBCA said.
He also said that keeping good faith and honoring the role played by DC Kangpokpi "we have decided to cancel our proposed stir" .
