Ujala Diwas held in Kamjong, Senapati, Bpr districts

Kamjong, July 27 2022: Kamjong district administration observed Bijli Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas at Khamlang village under Kasom Khullen sub-division on Tuesday as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Hundreds of villagers, who attended the event, appreciated the steps taken up by the BJP-led government for bringing such a phenomenal change in their lifestyles through this initiative.

The programme was attended by former EM of ADC Ukhrul N Wungreiyo and former ADC member S Thotaseng as chief guest and guest of honour respectively in the presence of Kamjong DC Peter Rang Namei Peter and SDO Kasom Khullen Duna Duo.

In his speech, Peter Rang said that observance of such an event will bring awareness to the villagers about the importance of power supply in such a time when everything related to life is connected to electricity.

He also expressed gratitude to the present government led by PM Narenda Modi at the Centre and N Biren in the state for bringing such a change to the people living in every nook and corner of the state and appealed to the villagers for judicious use of power.

Several films relating to village and rural electrification, renewable energy among others were screened as part of the programme jointly organised by Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of Manipur and MSPDCL.

MSPDCL Kamjong division DGM Victor Duidang and NHPC Limited senior manager Hemam Dhanashyam were also present at the event.

SENAPATI: Biljili Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas was celebrated on Wednesday as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Multi- Purpose Hall, Senapati under the joint initiative of ministries of Power (MoP) and New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), and MSPDCL.

Attending the function as chief guest Senapati DC Mahesh Chaudhari applauded the power department for availing light and taking trouble where there is power supply shortage in the district.

He also said that new project of diverging power supply are taking place in some parts of the district and urged the people to co-operate with the line department.

As guest of honour of the event, BJP Senapati district president Th Thaikho Peter, who is also ex-ADC member, urged the gathering to protect the environment and use electricity judiciously.

During the programme, film on various achievements and projects on power supply were shown and a skit on conservation of energy performed by Mave School students.

Beneficiaries from different villages also gave their testimonies during the programme, which was attended by Senapati ADM HL Jain and various officials from MoP and MNRE, SDOs, DLOs, CSO representatives, villagers and students.

BISHNUPUR: Bijli Mahotsav programme was organised at Kwasiphai Mamang Community Hall in Bishnupur with Education minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh as chief guest and Oinam MLA Irengbam Nalini Devi, Nachou Zilla Parishad member Thiyam Dilip Meitei and Khoijuman Kwasiphai Gram Panchayat pradhan Thoudam Ahanbi Devi, Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram and Divisional Forest officer Dr S Rebika as the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Basanta stressed on the importance of energy conservation and reminded that electricity is one of the main indicators of a state or a country's development.

Stating that irresponsible consumption of power adversely impact consumers' electric bills as well as the power distribution of the country, the minister urged the gathering to conserve energy for the benefit of the future generation and the country.

Meanwhile, DC Bikram stated that power sector reforms over the years have ensured power supply even to the remotest corners now.

He also informed that the introduction of the pre-paid meter system has considerably enhanced revenue collection in the state.

Suggesting that adoption of simple measures like shifting from CFL bulbs to LED will significantly contribute to energy conservation efforts, the DC urged the people for their cooperation and support to the government.

During the celebration, various beneficiaries of electrification schemes shared their testimonies while short films were screened on Universal Household Electrification, Village Electrification, Distribution System Strengthening, Capacity Addition, One Nation One Grid, Renewable Energy, Consumer Rights and a film on State Achievement.

Nukkad Natak and cultural performances were the other highlights of the function.

Bishnupur ADM Bobby Sharma, additional SP Satyam Takhellambam, SDOs/BDOs, and representatives of NHPC, Loktak Power Station, MSPDCL Bishnupur division, DLOs, villagers, officials concerned and staff of district administration and MSPDCL attended the celebration.
