The state government has lifted the suspension on broadband services, three days after it was imposed, to alleviate the hardships faced by common people, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other offices.
However, mobile internet services remain suspended, as stated in an order by home commissioner N Ashok Kumar.
The broadband services will be restored conditionally, with restrictions on accepting connections other than the ones allowed, and no Wi-Fi or hotspots permitted.
The suspension had affected Imphal East and West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, and Churachandpur districts.
The suspension was imposed on November 16 due to escalating violence in the region.
"Considering the suffering of the common people as the internet ban had affected functioning of important offices, institutions, and people who work from home, the state government has made a considered decision to lift suspension in ease of broadband services conditionally," the order said.
