KCP (KK Nganba) chairman among nine arrested

Imphal, February 18 2025: Security forces arrested five cadres of different underground groups including chairman of KCP (KK Nganba) and recovered several weapons.

According to a statement issued by Manipur Police Control Room, security forces arrested chairman of KCP (KK Nganba) identified as Chongtham Malemnganba alias Kangleikhonba (70), and another active cadre of the armed outfit namely, Laishram Malemnganba during a search operation conducted at Langol Ningthou Leikai on Monday.

The statement informed that one active cadre of RPF/PLA was also arrested from Khongman Zone 1 on the same day.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Shamurailatpam Bipin Sharma alias Nanda (56) of Khongman Zone 1 .

In a similar search operation conducted at Leimaram Low Canal under Nambol police station in Bishnupur district on Monday, another cadre of the proscribed RPF/PLA was arrested.

A mobile phone has been recovered from the arrested cadre identified as Thokchom Ajit Singh (40) son of Bimolchand of Heinoubok Mayai Leikai.

In another search operation conducted at Irum Mapal area in Kakching district on Tuesday, Kakching district police commando arrested an active cadre of KCP (PWG) identified as Naorem Premkanta Singh alias Thengra, 43 son of Ibomcha Singh of Irum Mapal.

On the other hand, a combined team of Kangpokpi district police and 19 Assam Rifles conducted search operation at T Khullen village under Keithelmanbi police station on Monday and recovered several weapons including one HK automatic rifle with magazine, three country-made pull mechanism rifles, one Single Barrel Bolt Action Rifle, one .32 pistol with magazine, one.22 pistol with magazine, one improvised mortar (Pumpi), five mortar bombs (Pumpi), one Kenwood Motorola handset, three ammunition of 7.62 mm calibre and four rounds of 9mm sniper.

Security forces also arrested a sympathiser of the KCP (PWG), identified as Romeo Laishram (50) of Yurembam Awang Leikai, from his house under Patsoi police station, Imphal West on Tuesday.

During the operation, the police seized a 7.65 mm pistol along with magazine and five rounds, a white ammunition box containing ten rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, a pistol holster, and an Aadhaar card from his possession.

In another operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO) from near the Mahindra Showroom at Okshongbung along Tiddim Road under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district on Tuesday.

The arrested individual has been identified as Thokchom Sanathoi Singh alias Chongthoiba (24).A mobile phone with an Airtel SIM card and an Aadhaar card were recovered from him.

Another active cadre of PREPAK (PRO) was arrested from Uripok Khumanthem Leikai under Imphal PS on Tuesday.

The arrestee identified as Salam Sitoljit Singh alias Seventy alias Sevenkumar (36), was found to be involved in extortion activities targeting the general public.

A mobile handset was seized from his possession.

In yet another operation, police arrested an active member of the RPF/PLA, named Waikhom Ibungo Meitei alias Mangal (26), from Hatta Golapati near Public Hospital under Porompat PS, Imphal East on Tuesday.

He was reportedly engaged in extortion activities targeting the general public, government officials, schools, and colleges.

A two-wheeler and two mobile phones were recovered from him.

All the arrested individuals, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings.
