Raj Bhavan, Cong, others celebrate Independence Day

Raj Bhavan, Manipur joined the nation in celebrating the 75th Independence Day on Monday.
Secretary to Governor Bobby Waikhom unfurled the National Flag at the Raj Bhavan and general salute was given by a contingent of CRPF.
National Anthem was also sung during the celebration participated by officers and staffers of Raj Bhavan and security personnel.
Meanwhile, Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal celebrated Independence Day and organised a programme to celebrate 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' by highlighting various outreach activities of IBSD for bioresources development and boosting the economy of North Eastern Region of India.
The programme was addressed by science & technology minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, who also released a book highlighting various outreach activities of IBSD for the development of local bioresources, scientific achievements, societal upliftment and bioeconomy from bioresources of NER.
During the Independence Day celebration, IBSD Imphal director Prof Pulok K Mukherjee unfurled the tricolour flag and recalled the contributions of the freedom fighters and paid homage to them.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pulok K Mukherjee con veyed that IBSD is striving to synergise different activities for communication and popularisation of science and technology through their outreach programmes for fostering and strengthening the economic and social development of this region.
The celebration was also attended by all the scientists, research scholars, students and staff of IBSD, Imphal.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also celebrated 75 years of independence of India on Sunday at Congress Bhawan here.
The celebration function started with MPCC president K Meghachandra hoisting the tricolour flag in the presence of leaders and workers of the party.
In his address, K Meghachandra strongly called for following footsteps of leaders who strived for unity and harmony among all sections of people of the country.
In his speech, CLP leader O Ibobi Singh said that MPCC is celebrating the 75th anniversary of India's independence in honour of great leaders who brought freedom from the British after more than 200 years and the party always strives to make India one of the richest countries in the world.
Panchayati Raj & Rural Development minister Y Khemchand also celebrated Independence Day of India at his Singjamei residence on Monday and later inaugurated a public pond developed under Amrit Sarovar Mission at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai.
After hoisting the tricolour flag at his residence, Y Khemchand along with additional chief secretary MH Khan inaugurated a public pond having water harvesting facility developed under Amrit Sarovar Mission at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai.
The inauguration event was also attended by a large number of local people.
Meanwhile, additional chief secretary MH Khan informed media persons that altogether 75 ponds will be developed under Amrit Sarovar Mission in all 16 districts of the state.
Along with the rest of the country, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Imphal and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), RO Imphal jointly celebrated the 75th Independence Day at the premises of CBC, RO Imphal office on Monday.
Dr Engam Pame, director PIB, Imphal led the gathering and hoisted the national tri colour flag.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Engam Pame said that the day was observed to remind every citizen of the country's true value of freedom and to remember the freedom fighters whose great sacrifices had secured the future of this great nation.
Later, artistes of CBC Imphal presented patriotic songs.
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal celebrated the 75th India Independence Day as Prof A Santa Singh, director RIMS, hoisted the national flag in front of the administrative block of RIMS on the occasion.
During event, RIMS staff and students also sang patriotic songs.
The celebration was attended by RIMS MS Prof N Sanjib Singh, Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam, Prof M Rameswar Singh, principals of Dental College and College of Nursing, heads of departments, senior officials, faculty members, nursing officials, staff, civil security, and health workers of CRED.
All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Serviceman Association (AMGESA) also celebrated Independence Day at the ground Hindi High School, Kanglatongbi on Monday.
In a release, AMGESA conveyed that the programme started with unfurling of tricolour by chief guest retired Lt General LN Singh accompanied by major Chandan Sinha, AMGESA president GP Ramudhamu and NCC cadets which was followed by playing of National Anthem.
The celebration was also attended by local leaders, RSS, CSOs, ex-servicemen and their families, local clubs and AMGESA members and was marked by performance of patriotic group songs, dance, taekwondo demonstration and a march-past parade by a contingent of NCC cadets led by cadet Rahul Khanal, it added.
The High Court of Manipur celebrated the 75th Independence Day at the Court 's complex on Tuesday.
During the celebration, Chief Justice PV Sanjay Kumar hoisted the national flag, followed by salutation from the BSF personnel posted at the Court.
The celebration was also attended by Court judges, advocates, staff and Bar members.
On the other hand, District and Sessions Judge Imphal West A Guneshwar Sharma hoisted the tricolour flag at Cheirap Court Complex as part of the Independence Day celebration attended by judicial officers, advocates and Court staff.
