Governor, Rahul stress dialogue

Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi MP and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, AICC in-charge Manipur Girish Chodankar, MPs Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam S Arthur, CLP leader and former chief minister O Ibobi Singh, CWC member Gaikhangam, MPCC president K Meghachandra, and Congress MLAs K Ranjit, Th Lokeshwar and Surjakumar Okram called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Monday evening and apprised her about the condition of the displaced people living in different relief camps in the state.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey welcomed and congratulated the Rahul Gandhi, and stated that political leaders cutting across party lines should cooperate with each other to resolve the crisis.
Trust deficit among the two communities have to be removed so that a conducive atmosphere for talks can be created.
She then appealed to end crisis to all stakeholders to cooperate the government in the build up to resolve the crisis in the state.
Rahul Gandhi, who was on one-day tour to Manipur, after meeting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the relief camps, briefed the Governor about the pain of people living in relief camps.
He said that every step to support the displaced people who are in relief camps for 14 months is highly needed and it is time to take concrete steps to resolve the crisis.
He continued that Congress is ready to support any step to bring the two communities together in the negotiating table for talks as it will be the only means to end the crisis in the state of Manipur.
Earlier, Gandhi was briefed about the steps taken by the state government in providing essential commodities to the people living in relief camps by chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi and security advisor Kuldiep Singh.
