Imphal, July 02 2021: One Namoijam Je-mikanta alias Angamba (27), son of N Brojen of Ningombam Makha Leikai was arrested by Imphal East District Police on June 30 for posing as CM's relative and intimidating an investigation officer (IO) of an NDPS case taken up by Irilbung Police.

According to police reports, the accused attempted to browbeat the IO to free an accused related to the NDPS case by presenting himself as relative of the chief minister.

Jemikanta was arrested from Moirang by Imphal East District Police team on June 30 and on testing he was found to be Covid-19 positive.

He was later produced before the Imphal East JMIC Court on Thursday which remanded him to judicial custody.

Speaking on the matter, SP Imphal East N Herojit cautioned that anyone who poses as such will be dealt with strongly and punished as per the law.
