State logs 63 new eases, one fatality

Imphal, October 31 2021: The state on Sunday reported one fatality and 63 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 1689 samples tested in the last 24 hours and registered a positivity rate of 3.73 per cent against Saturday's 3.24 per cent.

The lone death case was an unvaccinated resident of Chu-rachandpur district and it took the total number of fatalities from Covid-19 to 1921.Out of the 16 districts, nine reported Covid cases on Sunday with Imphal West seeing highest cases at 32.In terms of positivity rate, Kamjong district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 8.5 per cent while Ukhrul district had lowest positivity rate at 1.0 per cent.

Bishnupur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl Senapati and Teng-noupal districts did not report any new positive cases.

Out of the 708 active cases, 85 (12.01 per cent) are in home isolation, 211 (29.80 per cent) in CCCs, and 179 (25.28 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 233 patients (32.91 per cent) are not known as all the CHICs have been shut down.

Among the hospitalised patients, 55 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 36 are on oxygen support and 21 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 94 patients.

On the other hand, there is one patient on oxygen support in one of the CCCs.

There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Saturday evening, 703 beds including 124 ICU/HDU beds were .available in different hospitals, 2766 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 446 beds (30 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 94,331 positive cases and 1547 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month has recorded 3147 new cases and 66 fatalities out of which 439 new cases and 10 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

October recorded 3147 new cases and 66 fatalities out of 66,751 samples tested during the month whereas September recorded 6651 new cases and 73 fatalities out of 89,455 samples tested in the month.

On the other hand, August recorded 15434 new cases and 226 fatalities out of 1,24,527 samples tested.

According to official reports, 61 people (29 male & 32 female) out of the 63 new positive cases are from among the general population and the remaining two are personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (7), JNIMS (9) and other testing centres (47).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (30), Thoubal (2),Kakching(l),Ukhrul(1), Churachandpur (4), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (9) and Tamenglong (1).In the last 24 hours, 62 patients were discharged from home isolation (16), JNIMS (21) and CCCs (25).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,731 (general population -1,19,397 and CAPF personnel - 4,334).The recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.

A total of 454 D-type and 57 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 13,523 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,48,726 including 7,15,107 fully vaccinated people.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,099), Imphal East (27,398), Thoubal (9442), Churachandpur (10,136), Kangpokpi (2780), Tamenglong (3277), Bishnupur (9155), Senapati (2229), Ukhrul (2943), Kakching (6399), Chandel (2332), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1057), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (931) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (639), Imphal East (457), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (161), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (ill), Chandel (38), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,875 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,517 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,40,758 tests per million population against the national average of 4,35,132 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.05 per cent.
