Solar Multi Muga Reeling Machine unveiled

With introduction of Solar Multi Muga Reeling cum Spinning Machine in the state, the laborious effort of reeling silk in the traditional method, wherein the cocoons are first soak in a pot and then spin the thread using hands, would become a thing of the past.
The newly introduced machine can simultaneously perform the reeling as well as the spinning of different types of silk including Eri, Mulberry, Tasar and Muga all by itself without the help of anyone.
This wonder machine has been designed by Manoharmayum Manihar Sharma of Nongmeibung Pung Makhong, who is an innovator cum master craftperson of Adarsh Kartha (Marked) Industries.
The machine was unveiled to the public for the first time during a function held at Nongmeibung Pung Makhong today with Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industries, government of Manipur O Nabakishore as Chief Guest, General Manager of DIC Imphal East Th Arunkumar as President and OSD Handloom P Meenakumari as Guest of Honour.
The newly introduced Solar Multi Muga Reeling Machine of Manihar is operated with the help of a solar plate that can charge upto 17 volt to 15 watt on normal sunny day.
In case there is no sunlight, there is an attached battery charger of 12 Volt-2 Amp which can back-up the operation of the machine.
The normal size of the machine in the dimension of 28x 20x 12 and it has five reeling heads.
There is one electric switch at each reeling heads.
Thus, when of the switch of one reeling head is off, the remaining reeling heads can still operate.
Each reeling heads have also been attached with plastic gear groups and bobbins.
The speed of the machine can also be regulated with the help of feeding pipes attached along the thread lines.
Interestingly, after fitting the cocoons in the respective slots, it is for the machine to do the work of reeling and spinning.
So an individual can attend to other works while the machine is on.
In a state like Manipur, where the power supply is erratic, the machine powered by solar energy has come like a real blessing.
It is said that the machine has the capacity of performing 24 hours and the thread spun are of high quality and quantity.
Earlier, Manihar had been decorated with National Innovative Award, 2009 by National Innovative Foundation, government of India for his another wonder machine - Automatic Pump Operator (APO), which can draw water from one water tank to another and stop once the tank is filled without the help of anyone.
Manihar also has been credited for the introduction Dryer Machine, which can dry fishes as well as fruits evenly and within a shorter duration.
Talking to mediapersons, Manihar informed that the idea of innovating utility machines came to him when he realizes that Manipuris always depend on the products made in other technologically advanced states even though we have the potential and the required skill.
Manihar disclosed that with exception to some financial assistance from the centre, he has not received any aid from the side of the government of Manipur.
