Mass rally taken out against violence on women and children

A Mass Rally cum Public Meeting on Violence against Women and Children has been jointly organized by Rural Youth Development Centre and Women & Child Welfare Association, Kanggui here today at Vocational Training Centre.
Haokholien Guite, local MDC graced the the occasion as Chief Guest while M.Sobita, Secretary WAD and Dr.Priyadarshini Gangte attended as Resource Persons.
The Mass Rally has been flagged off by Chonkam Kipgen, Chairman Kanggui Town Committee at VTC Kanggui near Inspection Bungalow Kanggui.
The rally dominated by students proceeded towards IT.Road and took the main road of the NH-2 and back to the VTC where a public meeting was convened.
Members of Kanggui Town Committee, Kanggui Women Welfare Organization, NWU, Nepali Mothers' Association, Kalapahar and others civil body also attended the public meeting.

Haokholien Guite, MDC Autonomous District Council, while speaking at the meeting, emphasised the important of Dress Code for women and children to avoid sexual harassment.
Dr.Priyadarshini Gangte emphasised on the significance of moral and ethics in her speech saying that women should possess good and respectable moral and ethics to avoid violence against them.
"To make a new and better society, women need to be educated", said Dr.P.Gangte, adding that women attitude should be respectable.
She also encouraged the women congregated on the occasion to be responsible person in their respective family, society and the nation.
"There is no security for the pillar of the Nation", noted M.Sobita, Secretary WAD and added that security in the state seems only for the Govt not for the general public particularly for the feminine gender.
She pointed out that 22 rape cases have been officially reported till August this year alone in the state.
There are many such cases as well as other crimes against women and children which go unreported.
While encouraging the women and children to empower themselves, Sobita stated that women empowerment lies within the person itself.
She also shared with the students who took part in the rally and the meeting on how to avoid violence and crimes against women and children.
