Businesses/traders in Manipur have been unable to file the goods and services tax (GST) in time owing to the internet shutdown im-posed by the state govern-ment in view of the ethnic conflict, thereby running the risk of incurring penalty.
According to a report, the deadline for filing GST for the month of April without penalty is on May 20.How-ever, as the government had shut down internet services due to the conflict situation which began on May 3, busi-nesses/traders in the state may not be able to meet the deadline.
As such, the state government has been urged to request the central government to extend the deadline.
