Covid threat persist, five die, 216 infected

Imphal, September 28 2021: Though the state is witnessing lower positivity rate as compared to last month and the daily positivity rate dropped below 5 per cent recently, the threat from Covid-19 prevails in the state as government bulletins reported five new fatalities and 216 new positive cases out of 2894 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.46 per cent against Monday's 6.26 per cent.

Though the positivity rate is below 8 per cent, Kamjong district recorded 19 per cent while Imphal West (12.1 per cent) Imphal East (10.6 per cent), Ukhrul (9.4 per cent), and Tamenglong (8.5 per cent) also recorded high positivity rate.

The active caseload rose to 2143 out of which 415 (19.37 per cent) are in home isolation, 762 (35.56 per cent) in CHICs, 593 (27.67 per cent) in CCCs and 373 (17.41 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 71 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 91 are on oxygen support and 24 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS though it has 161 patients.

On the other hand, there are five patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Tuesday evening, 560 beds including 107 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Monday evening 2881 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 381 beds (28 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 90,816 positive cases and 1478 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 6283 new cases and 70 fatalities out of which 1346 new cases and 17 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 216 new positive cases included 211 people (98 male & 113 female) from among the general population and 5 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were tested at RIMS (6), JNIMS (23) and other testing centres (187) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (47), Imphal West (125), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (7), Chandel (1), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (4), Kamjong (4) and Kangpokpi (6) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The five new victims reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal East (1), Imphal West (1), Bishnupur (1), Thoubal (1) and Churachandpur (1).One of them had received first dose of Covid vaccine while the remaining did not receive the vaccine.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1852 .

In the last 24 hours, 179 patients were discharged from home isolation (70), RIMS (9), JNIMS (13), CCCs (81) and CHICS (6).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,20,216 (general population -1,15,936 and CAPF personnel - 4,280).Number of recovered cases is 1,16,221 (general population - 1,11,986 and CAPF personnel - 4,235) and number of active cases is 2,143 (general population 2,103 and CAPF personnel - 40) .

The recovery rate is 96.68 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1283 D-type and 274 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

On Monday, 10,584 vaccine doses were administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,20,673 which include 4,61,055 fully vaccinated individuals.

Meanwhile, seven new positive cases were detected out of 60 samples tested in Kakching district.

Two cases were detected at Jivan Hospital and five at government RAT sites, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho Moirangthem.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (41,357), Imphal East (26,588), Thoubal (9319),, Churachandpur (10,017), Kangpokpi (2751), Tamenglong (3259), Bishnupur (8991), Senapati (2196), Ukhrul (2718), Kakching (6341), Chandel (2280), Noney (1059), Tengnoupal (1036), Jiribam (1015), Kamjong (856) and Pherzawl (433).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (615), Imphal East (436), Thoubal (169), Churachandpur (l58), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (187), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (33), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 38,742 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,137 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,17,598 tests per million population against the national average of 4,05,021 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2894 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 7.46 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.28 per cent.
