Imphal, September 25 2009: The dead bodies of two villagers if Happland village killed by suspected militants after abduction on Thursday night have been claimed by the families following an agreement with the government today.

The agreement with government was reached in talk between the representatives of the JAC formed in connection with the killing of the two villagers and chief minister O Ibobi at the office bungalow of the later today about 11.30 pm.

In the talk, chief minister assured of ex-gratia as per government norms to the families of two victims, provision of government jobs to the next of kin of the victims, adequate compensation for the burnt down house and deployment of security force to protect the village, said convener of the JAC K Abel.

Seven members of the JAC including the president of the All Manipur Tangkhul Youth, Janebaram took part in the talk while state agriculture minister, N Loken and SPF spokesperson, minister, N Biren assisted the chief minister.

MLA A Aza also attended the meeting on the victim side.

Earlier, before the meeting commenced, the JAC submitted a memorandum containing five point demands, said the JAC members to the reporters.

The memorandum demands finding out of the culprits behind the killing of the two villagers and punish them accordingly, protection of villagers by deploying security forces in the surrounding of the village, payment of ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh each to the victims' families and government jobs to a members each of the families of victims.

It also demands payment of compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the chief of the village whose house has been burnt down by the armed undergrounds while abducting the two villagers and fulfillment of the demands within September 27 .

In response to the demands of the JAC, Chief Minister assured of construction of new house of the village chief, payment of ex-gratia to the families of the two victims and provision of security in the village within October 16 of this year.

Meanwhile, the dead bodies of the two villages which have been lying at RIMS morgue after families refused to accept following a decision not to receive the dead bodies putting up certain demands have been received today after government gave assurance to fulfill their demands.

The agreement was brought in a talk between the chief minister, O Ibobi Singh and village leaders today.

In the meeting, chief minister assured of adequate compensation to the families of the two victims and provision of the security in the village.

The chief minister also gave assurance that government jobs will be provided to next of kin of the families, the chief of the village who was also among the villagers turned up at RIMS morgue to receive the dead bodies said.

He said the chief minister also assured compensation to village chief whose house has also been burnt down by the suspected militants who abducted and killed the two villagers before leaving the village.
