Loyalists oppose resignation of legislators, decry arson

Several organisations have appealed to MLAs not to resign from their respective posts.
In a release, Langthabal Kendra Committee informed that a meeting held at Chajing Mairenkhong community hall on Monday resolved that Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam should endeavour to end the conflict and not yesign from his post.
Similarly, BJP Konthoujam Mandal expressed that Dr Sapam Ranjan's intention to resign as MLA of Konthoujam assembly constituency is untimely and will not be allowed by BJP morcha, booth level workers and advisors.
On the other hand, Women Prohibition Committee, Sagolmang and Progressive Youth Club, denounced vandalism and looting of the house of Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh.
It expressed that failure to punish those who even lifted livestock from near the MLA's residence by taking advantage of the protest, has the potential to mislead the public movement.
The release further asserted that MLA Lokeshwar should not resign until chief minister, ministers and ruling MLAs resign.
In another release, Langthabal Lep Apunba Clubs denounced destruction caused to 'Chumthang Sanapung' during a protest march led by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA Soraisam Kebi Devi to meet the CM.
A meeting held at Ningthoukhong also adopted several resolutions including appeal to Bishnupur MLA and YAS minister Govindas Konthoujam not to tender resignation till resolution of the ethnic conflict.
The meeting cautioned that resignation of 50 MLAs without the 10 Kuki MLAs will eventually bring President's Rule which will be detrimental to the fight for the idea of Manipur.
In case the 50 MLAs resign then such a step would be akin to ceding to demand for balkanisation of Manipur.
The gathering also denounced vandalising and looting the house of Govindas at Ningthoukhong Bazar on November 16.Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee members also denounced vandalism and attack at the residence of Sagolband MLA Rk Imo by a mob.
A meeting was convened by the Committee at Bijoy Govinda Mandap on Tuesday after which Committee member Rk Ramananda reminded that a-mob agitated over abduction and killing of six women and kids in Jiribam by Kuki militants came to the house of Rk Imo.
As the MLA was at the CM's bungalow, he urged the protestors through telephonic conversation to wait for him so as to discuss their demands.
However, it is unfortunate that some masked protestors with petrol in their hands attacked the residence by taking advantage of the protest, he denounced.
The member made it clear that resignation of MLA Rk Imo should be discussed with the people of the constituency and should not be his personal decision and choice.
Similarly, a meeting was organised by people of Mayang Imphal A/C at the residence of local MLA Kongkham Robindro at Mayang Imphal Thana Awang Leikai.
The meeting condemned the vandalism and looting of the MLA's residence at Laphupat Tera.
The meeting further conveyed that the MLA is fully prepared to resign if all the MLAs step down, but on the condition that the decision should have the approval of the people.
