State's TPR dips to single digit after 49 days
State reports 403 new cases, six fatalities; test capacity, vaccination rate still low

Imphal, August 17 2021: Covid-19 test positivity rate fell to single digit after a gap of 49 days on Tuesday as the state reported six fatalities and 403 new cases out of 4336 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 9.29 per cent against 12.60 per cent recorded on Monday.

The last time the state registered single digit positivity rate was on June 28 (9.61 per cent) .

The active caseload has come down to 5721 out of which 1760 (30.76 per cent) are in home isolation, 2045 (35.75 per cent) in CHICs, 1110 (19.40 per cent) in CCCs and 806 (14.09 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 143 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 330 are on oxygen support and 69 on ventilator support.

At the same time, 43 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Tuesday evening, there are 291 beds including 65 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on district hospitals, CHCs and CCCs.

However, as of Monday evening, 2437 beds are available in different CCCs, and 286 beds (18 ICU/HDU) are available in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 79,548 positive cases and 1348 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw an addition of 10,449 new cases and 166 fatalities out of which 3524 new cases and 58 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 403 new positive cases included 401 people (209 male & 192 female) from among the general population and two personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (6), NIMS (28), District Hospitals (276) and other testing centres (93) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (80), Imphal West (144), Thoubal (15), Bishnupur (28), Kakching (33), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (48), Chandel (61, Senapati (7), Tamenglong (3), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (10), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (15).The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 6 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal East (2), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (2) and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths is 1722.Out of the six victims, two did not have any co-morbid conditions, one had received first dose and two both doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

In the last 24 hours, 946 patients were discharged from home isolation (610), RIMS (31), JNIMS (12), CCCs (144) and CHICs (149).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,08,948 (general population -1,04,872 and CAPF personnel - 4,076).Number of recovered cases is 1,01,505 (general population - 97,489 and CAPF personnel - 4,016).The recovery rate is 93.16 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1320 D-type and 377 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 9152 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,70,210.However, only 2,79,386 people have been fully vaccinated against 3,45,615 people eligible for both doses of Covid vaccine.

Meanwhile, 15 new positive cases were detected out of 135 samples tested from Monday 2 pm to Tuesday 2 pm in Kakching district.

Three cases were detected at Jivan Hospital and 12 at government RAT sites.

One is from Thoubal district and the remaining are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (36,664), Imphal East (24,414), Thoubal (8888), Churachandpur (9262), Kangpokpi (2541), Tamenglong (2952), Bishnupur (8319), Senapati (1973), Ukhrul (1982), Kakching (5956), Chandel (2108), Noney (945), Tengnoupal (1006), Jiribam (989), Kamjong (619) and Pherzawl (330) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (573), Imphal East (403), Thoubal (158), Churachandpur (150), Kangpokpi (55), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (175), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (23), Kakching (108), Chandel (31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (o).

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 35,111 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,136 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,75,172 tests per million population against the national average of 3,55,947 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent while cumulative positivity is 9.36 per cent.
