SoO groups 'restrict' Kuki-Zo MLAs

The armed Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United People's Front (UPF), which are bound by the suspension of operation agreement signed with the governments of India and Manipur, asserted that meeting between Kuki-Zo and Meetei MLAs is unacceptable unless concerns of the Kuki-Zo people are adequately addressed, According to a joint statement of KNO and UPF, there should be separate administration in the form of Union Territory with legislature for the Kuki-Zo for peace to return in Manipur.
The said demand/point should be accorded priority by Kuki-Zo MLAs during the meeting convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the outfits said.
The Kuki SoO groups also urged the public to understand their issue and.
appealed to Kuki-Zo MLAs not to engage in discussions with Meetei MLAs without prior consultation with Kuki-Zo Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and public.
It said that Kuki-Zo MLAs will have to attend the talk only at the invitation of the Ministry of Home Affairs but shall not participate in direct discussions with their Meetei counterparts.
