CM keen to help private sector employees

Imphal, November 12 2022: Acknowledging that employees in the private " sector in the state are lowly paid, chief minister N Biren has assured of discussing and looking into the possibilities of extending benefits of government schemes like CMHT and Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY to private sector employees as well.

Speaking as chief guest at the 13th foundation day of Classic Group of Hotels held at Imphal Hotel here on Saturday, Biren acknowledged the contribution of private sectors in bringing development in the state.

He also noted low income of those working in the private sector and said that his government will discuss possibilities of extending benefits of various schemes to them.

Maintaining that there is no dearth of fund to take up.

development projects in the state, the CM assured of focusing on development activities in his second term even though half of his first term got wasted due to Covid-19 pandemic.

He also mentioned the announcement of several projects worth Rs 15,499 crore by union minister Nitin Gadkari and said that all the major roads in Greater Imphal area and other district headquarters will be developed as concrete roads.

The project will be the first of its kind not only in the northeast region but also in the entire country, he said.

The CM elaborated that the projects sanctioned by the ministry of road transport and highways include elevated corridors from Koirengei to Canchipur and Imphal to Airport at a cost of Rs 3692 crore and Imphal to Moirang road upgrade to four-lane at a cost of Rs 2169 crore.

Apart from the road projects, the government is planning to construct a mega convention centre near the Water Amusement Park of Thengu Chingjin, ropeways in Ibudhou Marjing, Karang-Thangjing, Ukhrul-Shirui, andUkhrul-Mahadev.

Besides, the government is planning to restore Kangla to its original look before the British destroyed it.

Biren appreciated the contribution of Classic Group of Hotels in providing accommodation and hospitality services to guests from outside the state.

He further informed that the state cabinet has decided to develop Imphal Hotel into a five-star hotel.

Classic Group of Hotels managing director Dr Thangjam Dhabali, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited chairman MLA Karam Shyam, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar and chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar also attended the programme.
