Imphal, November 12 2021: To ensure disturbance-free supply of cooking gas to the state, two pipelines will connect Imphal soon while an LPG refilling bottling plant will also be inaugurated.

This was disclosed by chief minister N Biren during distribution function of e-SHRAM cards held at Hotel Imphal here on Friday.

Addressing the gathering including Union minister of state for petroleum & natural gas, labour and employment Rameshwar Teli, CM Biren said that one gas pipeline from Silchar in Assam and another from Kohima in Nagaland will connect the state soon and this will help in ensuring disturbance-free supply to people of the state.

Moreover, one LPG refilling bottling plant will be inaugurated soon, he said and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his love towards the people of the state.

N Biren, who attended the function as chief guest, further said that it is very unfortunate to hear that out of the target registration of 8 lakh unorganised workers in the state, only around 58,000 individuals have been registered under e-SHRAM.

Mentioning that e-SHRAM scheme covers almost all unorganised workers namely construction workers, migrant workers, domestic workers, street vendors, truck drivers, fishermen, agricultural workers and ASHA workers, N Biren said that all the unorganised workers registered under the scheme will be given accidental insurance coverage under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) .

The workers will be paid Rs two lakh in case of accidental death and permanent disability and Rs one lakh for partial disability, he added.

During the function, the chief minister directed the state chief secretary to instruct departments concerned to organise e-SHRAM registration camps separately such as medical department to organise camps for ASHA workers, forest department for SHGs under TRIFED, social welfare department for Anganwadi workers, etc., at different places.

He also assured the union minister Rameshwar Teli that the target of 8 lakh will be achieved by December, 2021 in the state.

While highlighting that more than 1.4 lakh women were given LPG gas connection under Ujjwala scheme in the state, the chief minister said that Ujjwala 2.0 has been launched in the state the previous day and government has set a target of distributing 1 lakh gas connections in the state.

He also said that around 15,304 gas connections will be provided to women of Chandel district, 31,999 for Senapati district, 23,454 for Kangpokpi, 5,028 for Pherzawl, 7,816 for Tamenglong, 6,995 for Ukhrul, 10,530 for Thoubal, 1,698 for Kakching and 148 connections for Jiribam district.

The gas connections will be distributed in the ongoing GTV and other functions.

For those districts which have achieved 90 percent gas connections under Ujjwala scheme, the government will request the Ministry to provide the gas connection to the remaining 10 percent under the scheme, he added.

IPR and works minister Th Biswajit, who also attended the event, said that since its inception, the labour and employment department has been trying its best to protect the rights of workers of the country.

About the e-SHRAM scheme, Biswajit said that any unorganised worker who is in the age group of 16-59 years can register under the scheme and urged workers of the state to register themselves as soon as possible so that the target could be achieved by March 2022.He maintained that mass campaign and registration camps will be organised in various parts of the state.

On the occasion, Union minister of state Rameshwar Teli also explained about the benefits of registration under e-SHRAM scheme and urged the people to register at the earliest to get the benefits.

Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chairman H Dingo, Loktak Development Authority chairman L Susjndro, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, officials of the labour and employment ministry and others were present at the event.

Meanwhile, a press conference was also held with Union minister Rameswar Telli on the plan-layout of the ministry in connection with Manipur.

He assured that the ministry will try to look into the need of constructing petrol pumps at 3-4 km distance locations and LPG distributors in village if needed.

He urged all stakeholders to give their full support in creating awareness among unorganised workers about the e-Shramportal.

He also highlighted various initiatives being taken up for ensuring uninterrupted supply of LPG cooking gas in the state and implementation of Ujjwala 2.0 in the state.

Earlier in the morning, Rameswar Teli flagged off a cyclothon for spreading messages on conservation of petroleum products and energy efficiency in various sectors at Khuman Lampak Sports complex, Imphal.
