Further remand for KYKL cadre

A KYKL cadre identified as Laishram Anand alias Sana, whose name is in the wanted list of the National Investigation Agency (NIA)withacash reward of Rs 2 lakh over his head in connection with the Paraolon ambush in which 18 personnel of the 6 Dogra Regiment were killed and 10 were injured, was formally arrested by Imphal PS today and taken into four days in police custody remand.
Laishram Anand was formally arrested in connection with a case taken up by the OC of Imphal PS for threatening Chief Minister N Biren on social networking site by self styled chairman of KCP (Peoples War Group) Oinam Ibochouba alias Khoirangba Khuman.
Laishram Anand (27) s/o Rajen of Chajing Karam Makha Leikai, was arrested by a team of Imphal PS from his residence in the evening of December 28 and had been under custody of Singjamei PS.
After the completion of the police custody remand today, a team of Singjamei police produced him before the Court along with a prayer for additional police custody remand.
The IO of the case, through the APP, submitted that during the investigation, Anand revealed that he joined KYKL in 2007 and that he took a major role in the Paraolon ambush of June 4, 2015 which was carried out by a combined militant groups comprising NSCN(K), KCP Noyon and KYKL, and using sophisticated automatic weapons.
He also revealed that during the ambush he was holding an automatic M -18 machine gun with a grenade launching tube attached to it.
The IO further submitted that the accused Anand disclosed that he joined KCP (PWG) in May last year, through self styled general secretary Paikhomba and is presently holding the rank of valley commander of the outfit.
As such, the IO prayed for judicial custody remand of the accused, for further investigation of the case.
On the other hand, the counsel of the accused, filed a remand objection along with a bail application before the Court.
At the same time, Imphal PS and NIA filed application for the formal arrest of the accused.
The IO of Imphal PS submitted that on August 11 last year, at around 4.50 pm, a suo moto case was registered after receiving an information through social media (WhatsApp) that one Oinam Ibochouba alias Khoirangba Khuman of Thanga Oinam Leikai, a self styled chairman of KCP (PWG) openly declared war against the Government by claiming that the State Government under the leadership of CM N Biren, was responsible for the MU agitation, the conflicting Indo-Myanmar border issue and the Naga Framework agreement issue as well.
The IO further submitted that KCP (PWG) chairman also declared that if the Government under the leadership of CM N Biren, fail to resolve the said issue within one month, the CM along with his Cabinet Ministers will be targeted and killed and he also declared that AP Pandey is a messenger sent by the Union Government to destroy the educational system of Manipur University.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP, allowed the formal arrest of the accused and thus remanded him to police custody for 4 days, till January 10.The Court also rejected the bail application filed by the counsel of the accused.
