Workshop on Nata-Sankirtan wraps up at Jiri

The 12-days workshop on Nata-Sankirtan organized by Sorok Atingbi Nata-Sankirtan Pala Marup (SANSPM), Jiribam, Manipur in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy (JNMDA) from December27,2018 at Hilghat Community Hall Sorok Atingbi, Jiribam concluded today at 2.30 pm.
The closing function was attended by L Upendro Sharma, Director, JNMDA, Imphal; Y Ashok Kumar Singh, Commandent (retd) 6th Manipur Rifles; Mutum Maipaksana Mangang, president, AJUCA, Jiribam; N Thambalngou Singh, pung expert; L Birjit Singh, eshei expert; S Babatombi Singh, pung expert as presidium members.
S Lalmani Singh, secretary, SANSPM, Jiribam delivered the welcome address as well as the key note address today.

Speaking at the occasion, L Upendro Sharma, Director, JNMDA, Imphal said that such workshop was conducted in different places including Tripura, Assam, Mandalay etc, and will be conducted in other parts of the world and added that he is happy to see the enormous number of participants from Jiribam District in the work-shop conducted here and urged all for their continous support and encouragement to promote traditional dance, cultural songs and Nata-Sankirtan of Manipur.
Y Ashok Kumar Singh, Commandent (retd), 6th Manipur Rifles appreciated the organizer for conducting such workshop on Nata-Sankirtan in Jiribam District and said that such step will help to safeguard the culture of Manipur in a big way.
Mutum Maipaksana Mangang, president, AJUCA, Jiribam stated that Nata-Sankirtan identified Manipur as well as India in international level and added that nowhere in the world do we find Khamba Thoibi dance, Maibi dance and Nata-Sankirtan which is a part of culture of Manipur.
Other experts present in the workshop appealed all for collective effort to promote and preserve internationally recognised Nata-Sankirtan.
The workshop ended with vote of thanks from S Jadhop Singh, member SANSPM, Jiribam while Sorok Atingbi Nata-Sangkirtan Pala Marup (SANSPM), Jiribam presented a Sankirtan performance on the concluding day.
