Workshop on 'Hee Lanba' concludes

Imphal, September 06 2026: A workshop on "Hee Lanba", apart of Gouranga Leela, organised by Marjing Cultural Academy, concluded today with the staging of a new production of "Hee Lanba" .

The workshop was held under Chief Minister-gi Artistsingi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme of the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur.

At the closing function held at Achanbigei Mayai Leikai Community Hall today, MCA secretary Potshangbam Avinash said Hee Lanba, once popular in localities and households as part of Gouranga Leela, is becoming unknown to the present generation as it faded from view.

To revive the dying art form and preserve it for future generations, the Academy's artists have re-produced the Leela form under the guidance of State Kala Akademi awardee Senjam Kameshwor, he said.

Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Leimapokpam Lakpati and Zilla Parishad Member of Kontha Khabam P Bimola also attended the function.
