Tree plantation programme held

As part of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, Doordarshan Kendra Imphal, Manipur and Forest Department, Govemment of Manipur jointly organised a tree plantation programme at DDK Imphal campus in Porompat today.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Anurag Bajpai said that the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" nationwide campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tackle global warming by promoting large-scale tree planting, to protect the environment and nature.
"On World Environment Day, the PM initiated this campaign, urging people in India and around the world to plant a tree in honor of their mother or as a tribute to motherhood", he added.
He also emphasized the importance of tree planting as a vital step towards environmental conservation and called for sustained care of previously planted trees.
Chief Conservator of Forest, L Joykumar; T-I/II, Conservator of Forests Southern Circle, Sanajaoba Khuraijam; DDK Imphal, Head of office, N Nandakumar; News Unit, Head, N Nando; Programme Head, Hrishikesh Angom; Engineering Head, P Joy; Security Officer, Th Brajabidhu and other officials & staff of DDK Imphal took part in the programme.
