Awareness programme on "Drug Abuse" held

Thoubal, March 03 2025: District Administration Thoubal in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office and Zonal Education office Thoubal jointly organized a one-day awareness programme on drug abuse at Athokpam High School, Thoubal and Sophia English School Thoubal today.

Around 210 students participated in the programme.

As part of the program, a poster campaign was also held at Athokpam high school.

At the programme, Phajaton and Oken Naoriya, Senior Counsellor of IRCA Thoubal, delivered speeches on implementation of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in the Thoubal District, de-addiction centre & substance abuse.

It may be mentioned that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an ambitious program launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on August 15, 2020 to make India a drug free nation.

As part of the campaign, District Social Welfare Office, Thoubal in collaboration with different organisations and departments have been organising various awareness programs in schools and local clubs to educate the general public, mostly youth and children about the harmful effect of substance abuse.
