233 UGs nabbed, 20 surrendered in 2021

Imphal, January 02 2022: In the year 2021, Manipur police arrested a total of 233 cadres of different underground groups and recovered several arms while 20 cadres laid down arms and surrendered to the government.

As per a statement of PRO Manipur Police Department, altogether 15 insurgents were killed in the year 2021 while 233 cadres of different underground groups were arrested.

A total of 167 arms of different types, 3115 rounds of ammunition, 253 IEDs, 3kg explosives, 76 hand grenades, six shells of RPG, two safety fuses, 27 lathod bombs, 360 detonators, 30 NT sets, Rs 6,17,222 and Kyat 4,500 were also recovered from insurgents during the year.

A total of 14 insurgents were detained under NSA in the year while 20 cadres of different underground groups laid down their arms and surrendered to the government, the statement added.

In the drive conducted by Manipur police against drugs as part of government's 'War on Drugs' mission, a total of 117 cases relating to Heroin haul were registered while 185 people including 33 women were apprehended.

Contraband drugs recovered relating to the cases included 36.463 kg of Heroin, 120 pieces of Valium-10 tablet and 70 pieces of Dizy-10 tablet.

In five cases of Ganja recovery registered in the year, five people were nabbed and recovered a total of 826.439kg of Ganja.

Altogether 40 cases related to opium haul were also registered in the year and recovered 381.758kg of opium while 76 people including 15 women were arrested in connection with these cases.

Moreover, 80 litres of opium alkaloid liquid, 20kg of opium-lime mixture, 202-2kg opium seeds and 50 litre of hydrogen peroxide were recovered in the year.

In six cases of SP tablet haul registered in the year, five people were nabbed and 19,153 capsules, 372 N10 tablet and 164kg brown sugar recovered from them.

A total of 24 cases relating to WY tablet haul were registered in the year along with arrest of 38 people including two women while 35.82kg of WY tablet, 15 ice drug packets and 10,08,268 tablets.

In 13 cases of cough syrup haul cases registered in the year, a total of 23 people were nabbed and recovered 11,291 bottles of cough syrup.

In the same year, two cases of simplex capsules haul were registered and nabbed two people and recovered 970 capsules.

One person was also arrested in the year in one case of ammonium chloride haul case registered in the year and recovered 55 litre of red ammonium chloride, 60 litre of blue ammonium chloride and 5.6 kg of lime.

In one case of crystal methamphetamine seizure, four people including one woman were nabbed and recovered 1kg of crystal methamphetamine.

In the same year, poppy plants found growing in 2,622.375 acres of land were destroyed.
