MANIREDA to light up all DC offices

The Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) under state's science and technology department is all set to light up all the Deputy Commissioner(DC) offices in Manipur with solar lighting lamps by June next year.
"We'll be able to light up all the nine DC offices by June next year",says L Manglem,Director Manireda speaking to reporters on the side line of observing Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas(Renewable Energy Day) at Iboyaima Shumang Leela shanglen in Imphal today.
"We had recently provided uninterrupted power supply to Moreh hospital by installing 25 KV capacity solar power plant" .
Manirada had been planning to provide such similar power supply to the three more district hospitals.Everythings is ready for Churachandpur district hospital,the officer added.
However authority is waiting for Thoubal till October this year.
It may be mentioned here that Manireda had already provided solar lighting systems to 73 police stations across the state.
Earlier speaking on the occasion Manipur's Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing ,in presence of state health minister L Jayentakumar and commissioner science and technology h Imocha,said the ruling front is planning to control the power theft by introducing pre-paid power supply system for the first phase in Imphal--first time in the entire north east.
"Laying of the underground cable are in full swing",the minister said."The department will be able to control the power theft and collection of bills in the line of collecting telephone bills once the completion of the project" .
Besides Imphal the government is also planning to introduce pre-paid power supply system to Thoubal,Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts, he added.The government of India has also agreed the purposal.
The state government is also targeting to complete electrification of all the census villages of the state under RGGY(Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana) by 2012 .
Manireda has so far electrified more than 200 villages out of state's 3000 villages in the last 10 years at the rate of 20 villages per year with renewable sources of power supply under a scheme wherein the centre will produce 63% of the share and the remaining 37% by the state.
