Bribe money giver, taker will be punished: CM
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, April 03 2022: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has vowed to serve the people of the state without being involved in corruption even for one rupee, as per the teachings of his parents who want him to do something worthwhile for the society and the state as a whole.

The CM was speaking during a felicitation function organised by BJP Heingang Mandal at NIDSU ground, Luwangsangbam on Sunday.

Biren remarked that although he did not organise any election campaign in Heingang constituency, he won the election by around 18,000 votes.

The denizens of Heingang proved the anti-Muslim narrative slapped on BJP wrong by exercising their voting right.

When the Covid-19 pandemic was raging, PM Narendra Modi instructed for distribution of 5 kg of rice to every one without any discrimination.

However, BJP was given the communal tag during the time of elections, which even the gods will not agree to.

"It was because of PM Modi that we are all alive.

The gods would not accept the devotees/followers who accused him (PM) of being communal when he was the one who saves the people.

The almighty has taught us to care for the sick and downtrodden.

The bad guys will never receive the blessings of the almighty no matter how much they pray," he contended.

Biren continued: "In accordance with the teachings of my parents to do something worthwhile for the people and the society, it is my unwavering stand to work and serve the state without engaging in corrupt activities even for one rupee.

Anyone who has given bribe for jobs should immediately withdraw their money, for both the person who gave the money and the receiver would be liable for punishment.

No percentage for any job will be accepted other than hard work and sincerity.

"As of now, one IAS officer has been appointed in each of the 68 sub-divisions, with various subordinate officers under them.

The officers will conduct a survey of the status of each household in their respective sub-divisions and submit a report on the same within a month", he added.

Regarding Heingang AC, Biren informed that around 300 houses have been constructed for homeless families and around 100 more houses will be constructed this year.

The state cabinet has already resolved to increase the start-up capital to Rs 100 crore for those interested in self-employment, while the coverage of CMHT has been increased to Rs 5 lakh.

Additionally, Rs 500 crore has been allocated as expenditure to provide livelihood to every household in 5 years, while every sub division would be encouraged to engage in a competition of their respective, unique products and export of the same under PM s Local Vocal Global initiative.

Commenting on BJP's massive victory in the polls, the CM remarked that all those who claimed BJP will not get majority and that it will be hung assembly, have gone quiet.

He said: "We are the ones who sow the seed and as such, will know what the harvest would be.

Those whose prediction had been proven wrong should admit their fault.

It all seems if the entire thing was orchestrated by the opposition.

Instead, they should give a common opinion".

He then said that the government's objective is to alleviate poverty and the suffering of the people.

PM Modi saw to the withdrawal of AFSPA in parts of the state as a gift and recognition of the improving law and order situation, to the people of Manipur.

"The previous withdrawal of AFSPA from 7 assembly segments was done after the state was embroiled in prolonged violence following the infamous Manorama Thangjam incident.

However, there was no rally, no confrontation with the police for the recent withdrawal of the Act from areas under 9 police stations.

BJP is a disciplined and well-organised political party, working from the grassroots level for the betterment of the people," he stated.

Biren observed that the recruitment processes for government jobs have commenced.

However, job seekers should also try to become job providers instead.

The government will provide them the necessary grant and environment in this regard so as to help eliminate poverty and increased the literacy rate of the state within the next 5 years, he added.

The CM then said that efforts will be made to upgrade the Koirengei-Sekmai road to double lane, set up amusement-parks and unveil the Ibudhou Marjing polo statue by June 14, under the 100-day action plan.

Meanwhile, a proposal for Rs 500-crore project has been submitted to install cement/concrete roads in municipality areas and Greater Imphal area for the first phase.

"Instead of discussion the tallest building of Singapore, it would be best to discuss and analyse how the development has come about to its present status.

Around 60 percent of the households in the state have access to safe drinking water today and efforts are on to increase it to 85 percent within 100 days.

"The government will uphold the trust and love of the people.

Now, the youth are also engaging in politics.

However, to put an end to corruption, people should stop taking money during elections.

This initiative to say no to money during polls can be implemented in the upcoming elections to local bodies.

Manipur will develop significantly if there is no corruption," he stated, while urging for opening a support cell in each locality to assist the impoverished families, school dropouts and those with health issues.

The function was also attended by the CM's wife N Hiyainu.

As part of the function, prizes were distributed to the polling booths which secured the highest number of votes in Heingang AC .
