The Meitei Society Churachandpur and Meetei Council Moreh have urged the Government to release the first instalment of the Special Financial Assistance announced by the Government for internally displaced persons before Ningol Chakkouba.
Speaking to reporters at the camp for internally displaced people at Kwakta Sericulture Farm, Meitei Society Churachandpur general secretary Ningthoujam Romesh said the 25% first instalment should be released and credited to the bank accounts of the displaced persons before Ningol Chakkouba festival.
Further, he appealed to the Government to provide the same benefits to all the displaced people.
He said the people who are displaced by the ongoing conflict and staying with their relatives and friends have not been given the assistance being provided by the Government to those staying in relief camps.
Displaced persons who are staying with their relatives and friends should be given the same benefits people staying in camps are getting, he said.
Meetei Council Moreh president Mayanglambam Thoiba, secretary Laishangthem Bojendro, Meitei Society Churachandpur president Moirangthem Thoiba Singh and members of the organisations were present in the press meet.
