NCC NER ADC visits state, meets Governor

NCC, North Eastern Region (NER) Directorate additional director general (ADG) major general Gagan Deep is on a two-day tour to witness NCC training in Manipur.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that the ADG called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey and chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi.
The Governor was briefed about resumption of NCC, training in the state that had stopped due to the present crisis, and other miscellaneous issues regarding the NCC were discussed.
The ADG also visited the NCC Group HQ, Imphal and witnessed the ongoing CATC of 14 Manipur NCC Battalion at DM College Imphal.
He exalted upon the cadets to instil a sense of pride for the nation and become good citizens along with motivating the cadets to excel in any activity taken upon.
The release also stated that during the interaction with the chief secretary, the discussion centred on NCC activities in the state, sup port from all departments of the centre and the state governments and way ahead to strengthen NCC infrastructure in Manipur.
Construction of NCC Training and Youth Academy in Imphal and expansion of NCC in the state was focal point of their discussion.
The chief secretary was also briefed on two initiatives of the NER Directorate, namely Project 'Lai Hara' and Project 'Yuva Bhagidari' aimed at youth empowerment.
The chief secretary assured full support from the state government.
The ADG also assured of quality training and grooming of NCC cadets with the theme of national integration, it said.
Meanwhile, major general Gagan Deep called on the Governor and updated her on NCC activities in Manipur, a release by PRO Raj Bhavan informed.
The release conveyed that NCC ADG highlighted the fact that despite challenges of security, floods and incessant rains, NCC Group Imphal is conducting NCC training for 7,200 NCC cadets across 16 districts of Manipur.
The release mentioned that the Governor asked the ADG to identify and train candidates from various relief camps, encouraging their development in nation-building and fostering a sense of patriotism.
Toward the end the ADG assured the Governor of NCC's commitment towards inculcating sound values amongst NCC cadets and their quality training, it said.
