The JAC against the killing of Mayajul Haque has warned of launching intense forms of agitation if the agreement reached in a joint meeting of community leaders, is not translated into action.
Addressing a press meet at Lalpani Bazar, here on Tuesday, JAC vice-chairman Md Abdul Rof Laskar recounted that Mayajul Haque was severely assaulted by M Biken of Babupara Ward No.5 and Hillghat GP ward member K Roshan on March 19 this year after they called the victim to their houses on the pretext of selling a cow.
Mayajul later succumbed to injuries suffered in the thrashing.
In order to prevent occurrence of undesired incidents between the two communities, the JAC convened a joint meeting with the participation of community leaders on March 22, wherein, it was agreed that the families of the accused persons shall pay compensation to the victim's family by April 20 .
However, the families of the accused have not paid the compensation, he said while asking them to honour the agreement reached within May failing which the JAC would be compelled to launch intense agitation, he warned.
