Draupadi campaigns for presidential poll in state

Imphal, July 05 2022:
NDA candidate for presidential elections Draupadi Murmu visited the state on Tuesday evening and left Imphal for Guwahati on a chartered flight after campaigning for the election scheduled for July 18 .
Draupadi arrived at Imphal airport at 6.49pm accompanied by Union ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Chief minister N Biren and top functionaries of state BJP led by president A Sharda Devi welcomed Draupadi at the airport amid performance by cultural troupes of different tribal communities.
Later, a formal reception function was held at Hotel Imphal attended by chief minister Biren, Union ministers Sonowal, RK Ranjan and Pratima Bhoumik, MPs Leishemba Sanajaoba and Dr Lorho S Pfoze, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata.
Apart from them, MLAs of political parties supporting the BJP-NPF government like JDU, NPP and Independents also attended the reception function and presented bouquets to the presidential candidate.
Later, a closed-door meeting was held at Sangai hall of Hotel Imphal.
Though what exactly was discussed could not be ascertained, sources informed that the meeting unanimously resolved to extend support to the NDA candidate and give vote to her in the upcoming presidential elections without any deviation.
After the meeting, Draupadi had dinner with chief minister Biren, MLAs and MPs at the CM's Bungalow and then left for Guwahati at about 9.30 pm .
