Red Shield signs pact to mentor state's students
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, April 30 2022: Manipur Governor La Ganesan has said that youth are the building blocks of a nation and their role in nation building is equally important as that of other stakeholders.

Speaking at the 'Manipur Super 50' Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between Red Shield Division under Spear Corps, corporate partner State Bank of India Foundation (SBIF) and training partner National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) held at the auditorium of Red Shield Division, Leimakhong oh Saturday, the Governor opined that the youth should be motivated to understand their role towards nation building and their contributions should be acknowledged by all.

Governor La Ganesan, while motivating the students and cadets present in the ceremony, stressed the importance of all to follow in the footsteps of the great leaders of the country who had contributed a lot for its freedom.

He observed that youth of today should follow the footsteps of ideal leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, among several others, who had contributed tremendously for the nation.

Appreciating the team for conceptualising "Red Shield Centre of Wellness and Excellence" to transform the lives of students from humble background, the Governor said that no cause is nobler than to bring sunshine in the lives of the children who have not been able to optimise their calibre and talent due to economic conditions as well as lack of access to high quality education facilities.

He further said the inadequacy of quality educational mentoring infrastructure is a major disadvantage for students in the state, especially for those from semi-rural and rural provinces aspiring for higher educational qualifi cations at the national level.

This initiative will be able to create a feeling of mental and social well-being amongst parents and their children by providing quality education thus ensuring a better life and evolving responsible citizens for our country, he added.

57 Mountain Division general officer commanding Maj Gen Navin Sachdeva informed that 50 students will be selected under the programme and they will be provided quality coaching and education for IIT/JEE, NEET etc.

He said the centre which will be opened at Bishnupur Battalion will remain as instrumental for bringing a progressive and inclusive society.

Lt Gen (Retd) K Himalay and Lt Gen (Retd) L Nishi kanta, among others attended the ceremony.

The MoU was signed by brigadier Ved Beniwal, managing trustee and NIEDO CEO Dr Rohit Srivastava and a representative of SBI.

The Red Shield Centre for Excellence and Wellness which will be located in Bishnupur district is an initiative to secure a better future for the youth of the state.

The project is expected to be fully functional for first batch of 50 students by first week of July, 2022.The project has been conceptualised as a yearlong fully residential coaching and mentoring facility for students from economically weaker and underprivileged sections of the state to clear competitive examinations like NEET and JEE.
