Imphal, August 29 2018:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) Women Wing has today demanded the State Government to investigate the alleged rape of a minor girl by her tutor (coaching teacher) in Imphal West district.
The accused has been identified as one Abujam Tombisana (47) s/o A Thabal of Samurou Awang Leikai.
Addressing the media at AMSU Headquarters, DM College campus, convener of AMSU Women Wing N Bidyarani informed that a 16 year old student from a locality in Imphal West district was allegedly raped by her tutor during the month of March this year.
She conveyed that the incident came to light when the victim disclosed the rape to her mother only on August 26.Asserting that the victim was concealing the incident as she received threat from the accused many times,' Bidyarani alleged that the accused offered a liquid substance during the month of February in the name of treating the victim who is also claimed to be possessed by the spirit of God.
Although the victim was not sure whether Tombisana had raped her or not that day, as she went unconscious after consuming the liquid, she highly suspected that she might have been raped that day itself.
However, the victim claimed that she was raped by her tutor/coaching teacher on March 13 this year at around 3.30 am, claiming that the accused entered her bed room and pressed something on her nose following which the victim felt a sensational feeling on her nose.
Later the accused threatened her that she will face dire consequences if she discloses the incident to anyone.
Nevertheless the mother of the victim started suspecting her daughter some days back on seeing the latter in a depressed mood.
As such, the mother asked her and she finally disclosed the incidents.
Taking grave note of the ugly incident, the AMSU Women Wing convener urged the State Government and authorities concerned to keep a strict vigil on the private coaching centers that are mushrooming in the State and demanded that proper rules and regulations should be framed and implemented.
She also demanded the Government and authorities concerned to investigate the matter and deliver justice at the earliest.
