Tamenglong, May 09 2015 :
Tamenglong Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumers on Saturday burned office files of the M/S Thomson Indane Agency Tamenglong after a public meeting held at Haipou Jadonang's Park at the District Headquarters.
The action of the irate consumers followed a public meeting organized by Tamenglong LPG Domestic Consumers Welfare Association (TLDCWA).
The meeting discussed the agreement between the association and Thomson Indane Agency.
However, the agency failed to honour the agreement.
The agency has been charging Rs 1700 (for double cylinders) and Rs 1050 (for single cylinder) for changing name/correction of name in the LPG book.
According to the agreement, the agency was to take only Rs 350 for change name and correction of name.

The public meeting also resolved to surrender the Blue Book to the agency Tamenglong and alleged that the consumers were not satisfied with the services provided.
After the public meeting, the angry mob marched to the office of the agency and burned some office files there.
Later, police picked up the leader of Tamenglong LPG Domestic Consumers Welfare Association and was released after giving an explanation about the incident.
A First Information Report (FIR) was also filed against the association.
TLDCWA has alleged that the gas agency had issued many Blue Books to consumers while they received just two to three filled cylinders in a year.
