State logs five deaths, 275 new cases

Imphal, August 28 2021: The state on Saturday reported five death cases and 275 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 2907 samples tested and registered a positivity rate of 9.46 per cent against 9.72 per cent recorded on Friday.

The active caseload has come down to 3424 out of which 1323 (38.64 per cent) are in home isolation, 763 22.28 percent) in CHICs, 758 22.14 per cent) in CCCs and 580 (16.94 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 127 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 205 are on oxygen support and 57 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Iland Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 156, 34 and 14 patients respectively.

At the same time, 19 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Saturday evening ,471 beds including 80 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening 2792 beds were available in different CCCs, and 297 beds (19 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 83,541 positive cases and 1401 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw an addition of 14,442 new cases and 219 fatalities out of which 2284 new cases and 28 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 275 new positive cases included 273 civilians (119 male & 154 female) and two personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (12), JNIMS (28), District Hospitals (149) and other testing centres (86) .

The positive cases from among the civilians are from Imphal East (39), Imphal West (134), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (15), Chandel (2), Senapati (6), Tamenglong (17), Tengnoupal (1), Pherzawl (2) and Kangpokpi (7) .

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 5 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (1), Bishnupur (1), Ukhrul (1), Tengnoupal (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1775.Out of the five victims, two did not have any co-morbid conditions and two had received first dose of Covid vaccine.

So far, 89 vaccinated individuals had died with four of the victims having received both the doses.

In the last 24 hours, 332 patients were discharged from home isolation (129), RIMS (5), JNIMS (7), CCCs (114)and CHICs (77) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,12,941 (general population - 1,08,837 and CAPF personnel - 4,104).Number of recovered cases is 1,07,742 (general population - 1,03,665 and CAPF personnel - 4,077) while number of active cases is 3,424 (general population - 3,402 and CAPF personnel - 22).The recovery rate is 95.40 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1350 D-type and 358 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 7782 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,83,466 .

Out of them, only 3,28,209 have received second dose of vaccine out of the state's total of 4,01,133 eligible beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, 14 new positive cases were detected out of 84 samples tested from Friday 2 pm to Saturday 2 pm in Kakching district registering a positivity rate of 16.66 per cent.

One case was detected at Jivan Hospital, two at Ema Hospital and 11 at government RAT sites.

All are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (38,182), Imphal East (25,179), Thoubal (9080), Churachandpur (9519), Kangpokpi (2610), Tamenglong (3093),'Bishnupur (8650), Senapati (2057), Ukhrul (2233), Kakching (6123), Chandel (2145), Noney (987), Tengnoupal (1012), Jiribam (995), Kamjong (709) and Pherzawl (367) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (589), Imphal East (416), Thoubal (163), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur 182), Senapati (7), Ukhrul 26), Kakching (109), Chandel 33), Noney ft), Tengnoupal 13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,397 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,403 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,87,086 tests per million population against the national average of 3,70,358 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 2907 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 9.46 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity rate stands at 9.40 per cent.
