Covid claims two lives, infects 31 more

As the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic is witnessing downward trend, the state reported 31 new positive cases out of 1122 samples tested on Sunday, registering a positivity rate of 2.76 per cent against 3.42 per cent reported on Saturday.
Two death cases were also reported on Sunday which took the fatality toll to 2111 .
They were residents of Imphal East and Bishnupur districts.
One was a fully vaccinated person while the other was unvaccinated.
Till date, the virus has claimed the lives of 189 vaccinated people of which 59 had received second doses.
In the last 24 hours, 50 patients were discharged from home isolation (30), RIMS (6), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (7) .
The active case came down to 339 out of which 158 (46.61 percent) are in home isolation.
Out of the 16 districts, six did not report any fresh Covid cases on Sunday.
So far, the state has recorded 10,970 positive cases and 109 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 3502 new positive cases and 65 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 325 and 11 respectively.
According to official reports, all the 31 fresh cases (14 male & 17 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (28) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (7), Imphal West (14), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (3), Kamjong (1), Senapati, (1), Tengnoupal (1), Ukhrul (1), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,36,758 while number of recovered cases is 1,34,308 (general population - 1,29,319 and CAPF personnel - 4,989) and number of active cases is 339 (general population - 326 and CAPF personnel - 13) .
The recovery rate is 98.21 per cent.
A total of 130 D'-type and 60 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours while 6779 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 15,10,061, out of which 11,36,380 had received second doses and 59,085 had taken precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48,603), Imphal East (30,370), Thoubal (10,119), Churachandpur (11,036), Kangpokpi (3119), Tamenglong (3466), Bishnupur (9798), Senapati (2475), Ukhrul (3255), Kakching (6865), Chandel (2701), Noney (1151), Tengnoupal (1191), Jiribam (1110), Kamjong (1034) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (702), Imphal East (509), Thoubal (188), Churachandpur (168), Kangpokpi (66), Tamenglong (17), Bishnupur (205), Senapati (12), Ukhrul (50), Kakching (121), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (14), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,073 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,00 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,601 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,06,968 tests per million population against the national average of 5,46,010 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate came down to 8.69 per cent.
